Derek Hales arrived at The Valley from Luton Town and went on to etch his name into the club's history books. An instant Valley hero, he terrorised defences in the red of Charlton and went on to become the club's record goalscorer in all competitions, netting 168 goals in 368 games during two spells at The Valley.
